The Business of Being Born

There will be a screening of the new film ?The Business of
Being Born? here in Folsom on Saturday, December 1st. This
documentary follows many expecting mothers through their
journey of pregnancy trying to decide which birth options are
best for them. The Director, Abby Epstein conducts interviews
with a number of obstetricians, experts and advocates about the
history, culture and economics of childbirth. The film?s
fundamental question: should most births be viewed as a natural
life process, or should every delivery be treated as a
potential medical emergency? Ricki Lake, the Executive Producer
of the film is one of the mothers in this film. She discusses
her previous birth experience in a hospital and her reasons for
wanting a home birth for this pregnancy. Better Birth
Sacramento has teamed with The Birth Center to offer this event
for the local birth community as well as the general
population.
The screening will be held at Folsom Lake College Saturday,
December 1st 9am in the large lecture hall.
Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. For more
